The Academy was a vision that came from the work that we’ve been doing at Peoria Fashion Week.
Year after year, we watched designers, models, photographers, stylists, and creatives come alive on the runway, and we saw something bigger than a show. We saw a pipeline: from curiosity to skill, from talent to opportunity, from art to economic power.
Peoria Fashion Week showed us that fashion is more than clothing. It is storytelling, design, technology, sound, light, movement, and confidence. It’s a full ecosystem of arts and creativity that, when nurtured, can transform a city. Out of that realization, Peoria Fashion Week Academy was born, an educational home where the arts of fashion are taken seriously as both craft and career.
Our vision is rooted in a simple belief: a truly robust city is one where the arts are thriving. When a city is booming with the arts, young people see themselves in new ways. Local businesses grow. Neighborhoods feel more connected. Visitors come not just to pass through, but to experience the culture.
At the Academy, we offer classes in sewing, modeling, photography, videography, graphic design, sound and light engineering, and more—each one designed to build real skills, real portfolios, and real confidence. We connect students to industry professionals, community partners, and live stages like Peoria Fashion Week so they can practice what they learn in real time.
What started on the runway has grown into a movement: building an arts-driven, fashion-forward Peoria where creativity is not just celebrated, but cultivated, trained, and given room to shine. Peoria Fashion Week lit the spark. The Academy is where we keep the fire burning.

At Peoria Fashion Week Academy, our approach is simple but powerful: teach the art, build the skill, open the door. We don’t just offer classes—we build pathways from curiosity to confidence and from creativity to real opportunities in the fashion arts. We treat fashion as a full art form—sewing, design, storytelling, movement, sound, light, media, and branding—and show how it all connects from sketch to runway. Learning is hands-on and real-world: students sew, walk, shoot, style, and produce with working creatives and Peoria Fashion Week. Rooted in community, we partner with schools, organizations, and businesses to create access for local talent. Every course is built with “what’s next” in mind: jobs, gigs, businesses, or college. Above all, we foster belonging and confidence so every student feels seen, supported, and ready to shine.

Distillery Labs is more than our home—it’s our creative campus. Located in the heart of downtown Peoria, Distillery Labs is a technology and innovation hub that brings entrepreneurs, creators, and community builders under one roof.
Through our partnership, Peoria Fashion Week Academy is housed inside Distillery Labs, giving our students access to a professional, future-focused environment. PFWA students benefit from perks like open co-working spaces, meeting rooms, maker resources, events, and a built-in network of innovators and mentors.
Together, we’re blending fashion, arts, technology, and entrepreneurship—creating a pipeline where students can learn a skill, build a portfolio, and then grow ideas into real businesses and careers. Our classes, workshops, and runway prep all come to life in a space designed for collaboration, creativity, and big visions.

The Model Code Scholarship opens the runway to everyone. Scholars train in runway walking, styling, confidence-building, and performance while building real portfolios and gaining guaranteed opportunities to walk in Peoria Fashion Week and all HAUS runway shows during the grant period.
This scholarship is designed for youth and adults who are eager to grow, express themselves, and step into the fashion arts with professional guidance and community support. Awards are based on a written application and interview, focusing on passion, commitment, and readiness to learn.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our generous grant partners who make this opportunity possible:
Arts Dollars by the Board of Directors of Arts Partners of Central Illinois, in collaboration with the Community Foundation of Central Illinois and the Illinois Arts Council Agency.
Because of their support, we are able to remove financial barriers, invest in local talent, and continue building a fashion and arts ecosystem where creativity, confidence, and community can shine.

Editorial Eye is our photography and videography track for creatives who want to tell stories through the lens. Students learn camera basics, lighting, composition, and editing for fashion, events, and brands—then apply those skills on real sets, at Peoria Fashion Week, and through community projects to build a strong, professional portfolio.
